The kori bustard is the largest bird capable of flight, weighing up to 18 kg. Although it is primarily terrestrial, the kori bustard can fly short distances, which distinguishes it from other large birds like the ostrich, which cannot fly at all. Males have a distinctive black plumage, while females display a more muted, primarily brown plumage. This coloration allows males to attract females during courtship displays, while the females' discreet plumage provides better camouflage to protect their chicks while nesting.
